On September 11, 2012, a fire destroyed the barn at Lakeview Animal Sanctuary. Over 80 animals lost thier lives in the fire. Much of our equipment, animal food & bedding, and other supplies were lost in the fire as well. The sanctuary is usually on the giving end of rescues, but since the fire, the community has come to the rescue of the sanctuary. We have received financial donations from businesses and individuals. There have been numerous donations of blankets, building materials, animal foods, towels, pet carriers, cages. collars, harnesses, a snow blower, shovels, garbage cans, barrels and so much more. Locations throughout Western New York have put out collection buckets. Individuals and businesses have held mini fundraisers to support our efforts. Many others have mailed contributions or donated through the Paypal button right here through our website. We held a fundraiser in October with the help of many who volunteered their time and talents. Dozens of baskets and other prizes were also donated for the event. And it would be impossible to put a price on the time which dozens of volunteers have spent assisting with the clean-up. Our sincere thanks goes out to all of you who have helped in so many ways. We have come a long way, but there is still much to be done to help us rise up from the ashes. Our goal is to be better than before the fire while taking the necessary precautions to avoid a similar tragedy in the future. We have set a goal of $100,000 to rebuild and improve our facilities in order to serve the animals so dear to our hearts. The thermometer here shows our progress so far. As you can see we have a long way to go. Please, consider helping in any way you can. Thank You- Lakeview
